A Cozy Stay at The Toasted Marshmallow in Blue Ridge, Georgia

At the end of March, as spring started to bloom in the North Georgia mountains, our family tucked into one of the coziest cabins we’ve ever stayed in: The Toasted Marshmallow. Located in the Aska Adventure Area of Blue Ridge, this log home overlooks Lake Blue Ridge and offers views that made us pause every time we looked out the windows. It was the perfect mix of kid-friendly amenities and dreamy mountain retreat.

Why We Chose This Cabin

Traveling with a toddler means our stays have to work for everyone — safe sleep for Iris, space for us to unwind, and little extras that make daily routines easier. The Toasted Marshmallow delivered all that plus some seriously fun perks we weren’t expecting.

Cabin Highlights

Here’s what stood out during our stay:

  • Plenty of space for families: Three bedrooms and three full bathrooms meant we never felt cramped. Iris could nap upstairs while we relaxed in the great room or on the deck.

  • Kid-friendly touches: A Pack ’n Play and toys were provided, plus LEGOs and games that kept Iris entertained during downtime.

  • Grown-up fun too: The terrace-level game/media room had a pool table, arcade games (Pac-Man + Street Fighter II!), and a 65” TV — so after bedtime, James and I got to feel like kids again.

  • Firepit + hot tub: We spent chilly spring evenings roasting marshmallows outside, then soaked in the hot tub under the stars.

  • Fully stocked kitchen: From sharp knives to a Keurig breakfast bar, cooking here was easy (a huge deal on long tours).

  • Cozy nooks: My personal favorite? The reading nook by the window, which looked out over Lake Blue Ridge.

The Location

The cabin is tucked away for privacy but only a short drive from Lake Blue Ridge for fishing, swimming, and boating. There’s even community lake access down the road for kayaks and floats. Downtown Blue Ridge is just a quick trip for coffee, groceries, or browsing shops, so you really get the best of both worlds.

Seasonal Perks: Early Spring

Visiting in late March/early April was dreamy. Mornings were crisp enough for a wood-burning fire inside, while afternoons warmed up for porch hangs and lake views. The dogwoods were just starting to bloom, and evenings were cool enough to make the firepit a nightly ritual.

Tips for Families

  • Bring groceries on your way in — once you’re at the cabin, you’ll just want to stay put.

  • Plan one night for s’mores (it is the Toasted Marshmallow, after all).

  • Pack layers for the changing temps in spring.

  • Don’t skip the outdoor theatre option if you’re with older kids — it can be arranged in advance for an extra fee, and it looked like so much fun.

Final Thoughts

The Toasted Marshmallow in Blue Ridge, GA, gave us exactly what we needed: family-friendly comfort with a dose of mountain magic. Iris had space to play, we had room to relax, and the little details — from the games to the lake views — made it a stay we’ll remember.
