I’m always surprised when I hear people say they don’t know about Asheville. It’s one of my favorite spots in the country. Below are a few of my favorite things to do there!

Mountains, Waterfalls, and Lakes

Looking Glass Falls and Hike

This is my number one must-do. The waterfall is actually at the base of it and you can drive right up to see it and take pics. The hike is just over an hour each way and is super easy. My gold Filas didn’t even get dirty. The view when you reach the top truly took my breath away and actually made me a little dizzy. It’s also a little scary so I took my shoes off to walk down close to the edge.

High Falls

High Falls

High Falls and Triple Falls in DuPont State Park

High Falls is the park’s tallest waterfall and catches views of the wooden covered bridge just above High Falls. The hike follows the Little River downstream, dropping elevation to visit the gorgeous three-tiered waterfall at Triple Falls, where the Hunger Games was filmed. There isn’t really any hiking, just walking uphill and downhill. And if you want to climb out to get to the waterfalls you just have to navigate some rocks, but nothing very difficult.

Fawn Lake

This lake is beautiful and relaxing. There is a walking trail that loops around it and there were a few people traipsing by, but besides that the lake was empty on a weekday. There is a small pier and a gazebo and the water is super refreshing.
